For example, some local utilities sponsor 'bounty programs' as an incentive to recycle appliances. The program involves allowing a recycler to collect old, inefficient appliances in exchange for a 'bounty.'
\n
\nSimilar to this, some programs also offer discounts towards the purchase of updated ENERGY STAR® qualified models, so this could be something to consider. Find out if your area offers bounty programs by contacting your electricity provider.
\n
\n\n
Electronics
\n\n
TVs, computers, printers, and other electronics are commonly accepted in most dumpsters, but if you have large quantities of electronics, like in an office cleanout, you will likely be required to recycle them as e-waste.
\n\n
In those cases, it's common that an additional charge will be applied per item in order to cover recycling fees.
\n\n
In some areas, local regulations do not allow electronics to be tossed in dumpsters at all, so be sure to check with your dumpster rental provider.
\n\n
Donate or recycle e-waste, like cell phones, tablets, computers, and printers. state.
\n\n
Yard Waste
\n\n
Trees, branches, brush, grass, and other green waste are allowed in most dumpsters.
\n\n
However, whether or not a dumpster company will accept yard waste depends on your area's regulations.
\n\n
In some locations, you are limited to the amount of green waste you can send to a landfill, while in others, you can fill a dumpster to its limit.
\n\n
Pro Tip: Some companies offer a 'clean-load' option for dumpsters at a discounted price.
\n\n
'Clean-loading a dumpster' means only loading one specific type of recyclable materials into the dumpster, e.g. concrete, yard waste, etc.
\n\n
The materials are then recycled and diverted from the landfill, so you save the environment and your wallet!
\n\n
Construction Debris
\n\n
Brick, Stone, Concrete, and Asphalt
\n\n
Heavy debris, like concrete, asphalt, and brick, can be thrown in most dumpsters, but due to its weight, some companies require the use of specific dumpsters designated for heavy materials.
\n\n
<a Shingles
\n\n
Asphalt roofing shingles are another heavy debris that can go in a dumpster.
\n\n
However, there is sometimes a fee associated with shingle disposal, so ask the dumpster rental providers you get quotes from about whether or not they charge extra for roofing shingle disposal.
\n\n
Find demolition debris can go in dumpsters.
\n\n
With heavy debris, dumpster weight limits are especially important.
\n\n
If you go over the amount of weight included in your quoted price, you will have to remove the additional weight or pay overage fees—either of which would cause a serious headache for you.
\n\n
Other
\n\n
Toys, curtains, carpeting, old documents, cardboard, and similar non-organic trash can all be put in a dumpster, too.
\n\n
\n
\n\n

\n\n
What Can't Go in a Dumpster?
\n\n
Generally speaking, you cannot put any type of hazardous materials in your rented dumpster, including wet paint, oil (other liquids), asbestos, sealed tanks/drums, electronics (e-waste), tires and some types of furniture.
\n\n
You'll find more information below.
\n\n
Paint, Stains, and Lacquers
\n\n
You cannot throw paint, paint thinners, lacquers, or wood stains in a dumpster, with the exception of latex paints.
\n\n
If you have leftover latex paint that can't be reused or recycled, allow the paint to solidify by pouring it into a box with kitty litter or shredded paper.
\n\n
Once it's hard and dry, toss it in the dumpster.
\n\n
Empty, dried paint cans can be recycled with other metals in your curbside bin.
\n\n
Find a place to drop off your leftover paint.
\n\n
Tires
\n\n
Because a majority of landfills in the U.S. do not accept tires, you cannot put tires in a dumpster.
\n\n
However, there are various ways to properly dispose of scrap tires.
\n\n
One option involves taking old tires to your local auto parts store or tire dealership.
\n\n
Another option includes finding a local recycler who will then convert old tires into asphalt or rubber mulch.
\n\n
Hazardous Waste
\n\n
Asbestos, pesticides, motor oil and other automotive fluids, propane tanks, household cleaners, ink and resins, contaminated soil or absorbents, and medical waste should never be put in a dumpster.
\n\n
In most communities, there are scheduled community collection events where people can drop off their hazardous waste for proper disposal.
\n\n
In some areas, you can also arrange to have a household hazardous waste recycling kit sent directly to your home.
\n\n
They allow you to conveniently pack up your waste and mail it in for environmentally responsible disposal.
\n\n
Take used motor oil to a local oil change facility for proper recycling
\n\n
Keep Waste
\n\n
Batteries
\n\n
Car batteries and dry-cell batteries cannot be put in a dumpster because they can leak chemicals that harm the environment.
\n\n
Instead, recycle car batteries by returning them to nearly any store that sells car batteries.
\n\n
Similarly, drop off old dry-cell batteries, like lithium, AA, and AAA, in designated bins commonly found in stores.
\n\n
Most auto part stores and repair shops will recycle car batteries. Sometimes you can get a deposit for returning it to where you bought it.
\n\n
\n
Find a local dumpster rental company near you
\n\n
\n

\n\n
Get the Dumpster You Need at the Best Possible Price
\n\n
To ensure you get the best services for the best deal, reach out to multiple dumpster rental providers to compare quotes.
\n\n
Hometown Dumpster Rental is the most convenient place to find the right dumpster rental provider in your area.
\n\n
Browse the options in your city, read company profiles, see what other customers have to say about their services, and contact providers directly for a quote—all in one easy-to-use location.
\n\n
Depending on the size of your project and the type of debris you have, you may only need a 10 yard or 20 yard, but if your project is bigger or on the heavier side, a 30 yard or 40 yard dumpster is likely your best choice.
\n\n
Be sure to explain your debris as much as possible to each provider you speak to.
\n\n
They'll be able to help you choose the right size for your project.
\n\n
Keep reading:
\n\n
\n\t
The Complete Guide to Getting Rid of Anything
\n\t
Moving Is Less Painful with a Dumpster and a Plan
\n\t
8 Simple Tips for Decluttering Your House and Maintaining Your Sanity
\n
\n","teaser":"
Toxic and hazardous materials are not allowed in dumpsters, but the list of other prohibited items can vary slightly depending on local and state waste laws and regulations. If you're not sure, just call a hometown trash hauler and describe your project and debris. Most are very helpful. When it comes to dumpster sizes, you may be better off renting a dumpster that is a little too large rather than too small. If you rent a dumpster that is too small, it ends up costing you double to have the first dumpster picked up and a new one delivered.
\r\n\t
Call to learn more - Call one or more of the preferred dumpster rental services that serve your area. Ask about their pricing, standard rental period, weight included in the price, materials not allowed in the trash container, and other rental policies.
\r\n\t
Schedule delivery and arrange payment - Schedule a date for delivery of a temporary dumpster to your home, job site, or place of business. It's recommended that you have your dumpster delivered the day before you actually need it.
\r\n\t
Request pickup - When your finished loading the trash or debris into the roll off dumpster, call the company back and they will pick the dumpster up and haul it away to the landfill, transfer station, or recycling center.
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Dumpster rental costs
\r\n\r\n
The cost of renting a dumpster varies widely based on your location. The national average cost of renting a 10 yard dumpster is $300, while the national average cost of renting a 40 cubic yard container is nearly $500 for one-weekek rental. What you pay depends primarily on landfill fees in your area, the size of the container you need, and the dumpster company you select. To get the best price on a dumpster, get quotes from multiple rental companies.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Find a Dumpster Rental Company Near You
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Most companies quote one flat rate fee for delivery, pickup, and disposal (though some add delivery charges separately). The rental rate is usually for a standard period of time (for example... up to 7 days) and includes a certain amount of weight (for example... up to 3 tons). If you exceed this weight allowance, you will be subject to overage fees typically ranging from $50 to $100 per ton that you go over.
\r\n\r\n
When comparing dumpster rental prices between two companies:
\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
Compare apples to apples (or 20 yard dumpsters to other 20 yard dumpsters... dumpster size can have a big impact on price).
\r\n\t
Ask how much time is included in the price and what it will cost if you need the container for a longer period
\r\n\t
Ask how much weight is included in the price and how much 'per ton' it will cost if the dumpster is over weight.
\r\n\t
Ask if any additional fees that may be applied for any reason
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Extra charges may apply if you need the roll off dumpster for longer than a provider's standard rental period. This is typically a per day fee (ie $5 or $10 per day), but some dumpster services will negotiate with you up front if you need it for slightly longer than their standard period.
\r\n\r\n
Pay particular attention to the amount of weight included in your price if you are disposing of heavy construction debris like bricks, cement, roofing shingles, or demolition debris. If you're renting a trash dumpster for cleaning out your home of miscellaneous household debris, you will typically not have to worry about 'over weight' fees because the debris is lighter.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Click Here to Find Reputable Dumpster Rental Providers Near You
\r\n","teaser":"
Learn how to rent a dumpster and be free of your debris. Phase 1 of Masdar City’s waste management plan will divert 50 percent of all waste away from landfills, or the equivalent of about 11,000 metric tons. The plan is to sort waste into three main streams: dry recyclables (i.e., cans and cardboard), wet recyclables (i.e., food scraps) and residuals (i.e., empty food containers). Dry recyclables will be shipped to the recycling center while wet recyclables will be composted and used for landscaping purposes. Other residual waste, including toxic waste, will be handled outside the city.
\r\n\r\n
The City of the Future?
\r\n\r\n
Is Masdar City the city of the future? It very well could be. However, it’s tough to say for sure until the city is fully developed and operational. This won’t happen until 2025 assuming everything stays on schedule. On paper, the city looks incredible and is amazingly eco-friendly. That said, there’s no way of knowing how accurate this will translate in real life. My best guess is that Masdar City succeeds in developing the most sustainable city in the world. However, it comes with a steep price – estimates put the price tag at around $18 to $19 billion.
\r\n\r\n
More Photos of Masdar City:
\r\n\r\n

\r\nImages via: Masdar City Official Website
\r\n","teaser":"
Smack dab in the middle of the desert is the location of one of the world’s greenest cities. Option
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Junk removal companies charge a minimum amount for any junk removal, with the average around $75 to $100.
\r\n\r\n
If you have one or two items you’re getting rid of—like a TV, sofa, or mattress—you’ll probably be charged the minimum amount.
\r\n\r\n
For small cleanups, junk removal is typically the more cost-effective option.
\r\n\r\n
A junk removal company may remove a small garage-worth of items for $200 when it may cost you $250 to rent a 10 yard bin to do the class=\"content-box-yellow\">\r\n
Remember: Every project is different, so calling at least two dumpster rental and two junk removal companies to compare pricing is the best way to determine the most economical debris removal solution.
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Find a local junk removal company
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
What Affects the Cost of Dumpster Rental and Junk Removal Services
\r\n\r\n
Dumpster rental and junk removal costs vary based on a number of factors, including the type and amount of debris, where you're located, the accessibility of your property, and who you hire.
\r\n\r\n
Your exact project cost will depend on these factors, and the best way to get an accurate estimate for your rental or project is to reach out to multiple service providers in your area for a quote.
\r\n\r\n
This not only ensures you get the best price but also allows you to choose the best company for the job, not just the cheapest.
\r\n\r\n
Location
\r\n\r\n
Do you live out in the country or far off the beaten path?
\r\n\r\n
If so, you can expect your dumpster rental or junk removal service to cost more due to the cost of travel incurred by the company.
\r\n\r\n
Cost of living and local disposal fees also play a large role in cost.
\r\n\r\n
For example, you’ll pay significantly more in New York City to rent a dumpster than you would in Memphis, TN based on the difference in cost of living.
\r\n\r\n
You'll also likely pay more for an apartment cleanout that requires hauling items up and down flights of stairs compared to the same size cleanout in the same zip code that is conveniently located on the first floor.
\r\n\r\n
Type of Debris
\r\n\r\n
Some service providers—dumpster and junk removal—charge differently for household wastes vs. construction and demolition (C&D) debris.
\r\n\r\n
C&D debris is often heavier, so it may end up costing more to haul away than general household trash.
\r\n\r\n
Amount of Debris
\r\n\r\n
The heavier the load, the more you’ll pay.
\r\n\r\n
For junk removal, costs rise as the volume of junk increases.
\r\n\r\n
A full truckload of junk, for example, costs more than a load taking up just half of the truck’s total capacity.
\r\n\r\n
Likewise, if you exceed the weight limit of your dumpster rental you'll likely be hit with overage fees.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
\r\n<h2
