environments.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Decluttering, cleaning, and organizing your house will eliminate existing allergens and help to prevent the accumulation of them in the future.
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Make it a habit to regularly dust, clean, and declutter the bedroom, can lead to disrupted sleep patterns.
\r\n\r\n
Research has linked cluttered bedrooms to poor sleep due to stress and depression.
\r\n\r\n
To ensure you get a good night’s sleep, keep your bedroom (and the rest of your home) clear of any unnecessary clutter.
\r\n\r\n
Cultivates a Happy Environment
\r\n\r\n
If you live alone, your clutter can negatively impact your mood.
\r\n\r\n
But if you live with others, like your family or roommates, then your clutter also impacts their mood.
\r\n\r\n
Likewise, their clutter can increase your stress levels as well.
\r\n\r\n
This is why it's so important to maintain a clean and tidy space, especially when you share it with others.
\r\n\r\n
A clean space not only fosters healthier relationships, but it can also improve our overall emotional and mental health.
\r\n\r\n
Gets You Moving
\r\n\r\n
Decluttering your home, in itself, gets your body moving, which can boost your mood.
\r\n\r\n
Moving around, gathering and organizing items, packing boxes, and carrying things from one place to another can be quite the workout.
\r\n\r\n
Sure, it can be tiring, but the work you're doing while moving your body is rewarding on multiple levels:
\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
You are cleaning your space of dust and other harmful allergens.
\r\n\t
You get your heartrate up and can burn some serious calories.
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Every time you declutter and clean your home or office, you're accomplishing two things at once and becoming healthier in more ways than one.
\r\n\r\n
Alleviates Depression and Anxiety
\r\n\r\n
Clutter has been proven to produce high levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which can result in anxiety and depression.
\r\n\r\n
In addition to the physical effects, clutter is downright frustrating; you can't find what you're looking for when you need it, and it makes day-to-day tasks more of a headache.
\r\n\r\n
To stay on top of clutter, put away new purchases or old items as soon as possible, and make sure everything has its own 'home.'
\r\n\r\n
It may seem tedious, but doing so will prevent clutter from piling up, and therefore stress from piling up as well.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n<div best protect yourself, you’ll need:
\n\n
\n\t
Protective gear
\n\t
Adequate lighting
\n\t
Safe temperatures
\n\t
A project partner
\n\t
Cleaning supplies
\n
\n\n
Protective Gear
\n\n
Attics are notorious for having poor ventilation.
\n\n
Pair that with dust mites and you have the perfect storm for severe colds or allergy flare-ups.
\n\n
Worse yet, if there is an undiagnosed mold or vermin infestation, the air quality dangers are even more serious.
\n\n
Because of these potential health hazards, it is always best practice to wear a protective mask during your attic cleanout.
\n\n
Masks will protect you from inhaling harmful particles that can affect your ability to breathe properly.
\n\n
Additionally, protective gloves and safety glasses are also highly recommended to protect you from dust and other irritants.
\n\n
If your attic is not carpeted like most, bringing knee pads or another piece of soft material to protect your joints from the hard floors will come in handy when you’re cleaning and sorting.
\n\n
Adequate Lighting
\n\n

\n\n
Sometimes an afterthought, proper lighting for your workspace can be the difference between you overlooking evidence of a serious problem or not.
\n\n
Besides the obvious implications of working in a poorly lit space (falling, injury, etc.), not having a reasonable amount of light can make spotting potentially hazardous problems more difficult.
\n\n
While you’re cleaning out your attic, it’s important to keep an eye out for rodent droppings, bug infestations, mold, and other evidence of a contaminated area.
\n\n
Proper lighting makes this task much easier.
\n\n
Safe Temperatures
\n\n
As heat rises, attics can be upwards of 40 degrees warmer than the rest of your home.
\n\n
Tackling an attic cleanout in the summer months can be especially dangerous if the proper precautions aren’t taken.
\n\n
If you live in an area with high temperatures at the time of your project, early mornings or after the sun has set are the safest times to work.
\n\n
Make sure to drink plenty of fluids, paying close attention to how much physical exertion you’re extending and how much you’re sweating.
\n\n
\n
If you’re experiencing an unusual amount of sweat, dizziness, nausea, pale/clammy skin, or a headache, you may be experiencing the first symptoms of a <a there are so many ways to accidentally injure yourself in a tight space like an attic, you don’t want to do it alone.
\n\n
If you have heavy items that you need to bring down from your attic, you’ll need someone to help you navigate the items/and or stairs.
\n\n
It is very unsafe for one person to navigate the balancing act of using stairs on top of carrying items that require your arm strength.
\n\n
Cleaning Supplies
\n\n
Once you feel safe, protected, and ready to get to the nitty-gritty of an attic clean out, you’ll want to gather all the necessary items to make your attic feel like the clean, organized space you’re envisioning.
\n\n
You’ll need:
\n\n
\n\t
Duster
\n\t
Broom & dustpan
\n\t
Vacuum
\n\t
Disinfectant
\n\t
Cleaning cloth
\n\t
Garbage bags
\n
\n\n

\n\n
Step-by-Step Guide to Maximize Efficiency
\n\n
Once you have everything you need to complete the job, it’s time to get to work.
\n\n
Step 1: Clear the Area
\n\n

\n\n
The first thing you’ll want to do is clear out the area.
\n\n
Removing everything from the area is the best way to make sure you don’t miss a single spot while you're cleaning.
\n\n
If that is not feasible, piling everything in a small section of the space to give you access to the rest of the attic will work.
\n\n
Any exposed cloth material, like window curtains or clothing in unsealed boxes should be put through your washer or taken to a dry cleaner.
\n\n
Step 2: Start Dusting
\n\n
If it’s been a long time since you’ve cleaned your attic and there is dust everywhere, it can be overwhelming to know where to even begin.
\n\n
The old saying 'let the dust settle' is an easy way to remember that the best practice is to start from the top of the area and work your way down.
\n\n
Use your duster, preferably one with an extendable arm for hard to reach areas, and begin dusting the ceilings, beams, ceiling fixtures (like lights and fans), walls, trim, and window frames.
\n\n
If you’re using a disposable duster, make sure to have plenty on hand.
\n\n
It’s very easy to underestimate just how much dust has settled in an area until the area is disturbed.
\n\n
Step 3: Sweep and Vacuum
\n\n
Under normal cleaning circumstances, it’s common to sweep before you vacuum.
\n\n
When dealing with large quantities of dust, however, sweeping may push dirt and dust into the air.
\n\n
The best practice when dealing with large amounts of dirt and dust is to vacuum first, then sweep, then vacuum again as needed.
\n\n
It may seem redundant, but you’ll be glad you took this extra step to avoid kicking up dirt and requiring previously cleaned areas to be cleaned again.
\n\n
Step 4: Disinfect
\n\n
Once you’ve cleared every area of your attic from dust, dirt, and other debris, you can clean any windows or glass mirrors.
\n\n
Waiting to do this until the very end will save you from having to do it multiple times.
\n\n
If there are screens in your windows, be sure to remove these and hose them down in your yard or bathroom, size permitting.
\n\n
After that, you can disinfect areas that are touched the most frequently, like light switches, door handles, etc.
\n\n
What to Do After You Clean Out Your Attic
\n\n
Organize
\n\n

\n\n
Now that your attic is clean and ready to host your storage space, you’ll want to sort through everything you were storing to determine what will stay and what will go.
\n\n
Even if you are sure that you’d like to keep everything you had stored in your attic, it’s important to go through and take inventory of your belongings.
\n\n
Not only is this helpful for future reference when you are looking for something you know you own, but it’s also a great way to check for further evidence of any potential attic concerns.
\n\n
If you have cardboard boxes or electrical wires that have been chewed through, or you notice moisture collected in certain areas, these are a sign of a different problem completely.
\n\n
Catching infestations and mold/mildew before they worsen is essential in saving you money in repairs long term.
\n\n
If you are planning on clearing out some old belongings for donation or garbage collection, this is the stage in your attic cleanout to do so.
\n\n
The easiest way to do this is by creating three separate piles: one for donations, one for garbage collection, and one for the items you plan on keeping.
\n\n
Finalize Your Storage Plan
\n\n

\n\n
At this point in your project, you can probaby see the light at the end of the tunnel.
\n\n
The only thing left to do is finalize your storage plan.
\n\n
If you have created piles for donation or garage collection, remove these items with your access.
\n\n
If you know that your most frequent visits to the attic are to swap out your summer clothes for your winter clothes, keep these boxes close to your attic of your newly organized storage area.
\n\n
Donate or Dispose
\n\n
Once your attic is clean, organized, and finally a project you can check off your to-do list, target='_self'>decluttering offers several key benefits:
\n\n
\n\t
A clean home supports positive mental health and clarity
\n\t
Less clutter means less risk of trips and falls in the home—a major cause of injury, especially in the elderly
\n\t
Increased value of the home and perceived size of interior spaces—critical when selling your home
\n\t
Reduced risk of mold, pests, and other potential health hazards
\n
\n\n
How to Declutter Your Home
\n\n
Step 1: Mental Prep
\n\n
It can be a stressful time for some people to part ways with items, even if they are things that are not used or even needed for anything in particular.
\n\n
It can be immensely helpful in these types of situations to gather a small team of supporters and motivators to help complete the job.
\n\n
While it may not always be a fun or enjoyable endeavor, decluttering your home will yield hugely beneficial results in the end.
\n\n
It's helpful to remind yourself of what the end result will look like in times when you need motivation.
\n\n
Step 2: Plan of Attack
\n\n
Get out a pen and paper to sketch out a basic layout of your home, and label each room with a value between 1 and 5.
\n\n
A value of 1 signifies a room that will require the least amount of work, while a value of 5 will represent the rooms most overrun with clutter.
\n\n
Once you can get a visual on paper of the scope of your project, it will be easier to decide your plan of attack.
\n\n
If you're dreading your cleanout or lose motivation quickly, it might make sense for you to start with the easier-to-clean areas.
\n\n
The quicker gratification of seeing a clean area can help motivate you to push forward and tackle the more complicated areas.
\n\n
An alternative method is hitting the project head-on by starting with the areas labeled as 4s and 5s.
\n\n
If you’re highly motivated in getting the home clean and pristine, this may be your best route.
\n\n
Getting the most difficult rooms cleaned up first makes the job easier as you move from room to room.
\n\n
Once you've figured out your strategy, it's time to arrange your method for disposal.
\n\n
You have several disposal options:
\n\n
\n\t
Haul junk, waste, and debris to the nearest landfill yourself.
\n\t
Hire a local junk removal company to pick up the junk. They can handle the heavy lifting for you and have your home cleaned out quickly.
\n\t
Rent a roll-off dumpster or trailer dumpster to use as needed. A whole-home cleanout will generally need a 20-40 yard dumpster.
\n\t
Donate usable appliances, furniture, and household goods to local charitable organizations, such as Salvation Army, local churches, Goodwill, and Habitat for Humanity.
\n\t
Post an ad on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist in their 'free' section to get rid of gently used items quickly and easily.
\n
\n\n
It’s up to you which plan of attack will work best.
\n\n
Go with the options that will motivate you to get the job done as quickly as possible.
\n\n
Read more:
\n\n
\n\t
Cost of Hauling Waste Yourself vs Renting a Dumpster
\n\t
Comparing the Cost of Junk Removal to Dumpster Rental
\n
\n\n
Step 3: Execution
\n\n

\n\n
Once you have your plan of attack, it’s time to get your hands dirty.
\n\n
Before getting started, there are a few quick tips you should know:
\n\n
\n\t
Use proper protective gear. This includes gloves, protective footwear, and masks/eye protection for any cleanups involving potentially hazardous or unhealthy cleanups (e.g., removing construction/demolition debris).
\n\t
Recruit a small group of close friends or family. The extra hands will greatly speed up the project and provide the helpful support you may need in parting ways with some items.
\n\t
Clear your schedule and get the job done efficiently. While decluttering an hour a day after work can be effective for small jobs, bigger decluttering projects should be given a full weekend (or even a week) to complete it promptly and efficiently. Dragging the project on for weeks can be draining and demotivating.
\n
\n\n
A key point to keep in mind—especially for decluttering projects that take days or weeks to complete—is to avoid bringing more new stuff into the house.
\n\n
This is contrary to what you’re trying to accomplish.
\n\n
Leo Babauta of Zen Habits suggests creating a 30-day list. Anytime you wish to purchase something new and/or bring something into the house, write it down on the list along with the date. Wait 30 days before deciding to purchase or bring the item in, and oftentimes you’ll find the desire to have the item fades away.
\n\n
Execute the project with purpose and determination.
\n\n
With the right plan in place, you can successfully complete any project you put your mind to.
\n\n
\n
Find dumpster rental companies in your hometown
\n\n
\n
Consider Downsizing
\n\n

\n\n
The ultimate home transformation takes it a step further than simply decluttering.
\n\n
Once you complete the decluttering process, you may find that downsizing is an option.
\n\n
Decluttering offers a higher return-on-investment when selling a home compared to improving the landscaping, lighting, staging, fixing plumbing, and more.
\n\n
Moving into a smaller home is a trend that has many benefits:
\n\n
\n\t
Lower costs for utilities, like electricity, heating, and cooling
\n\t
Easier to clean and maintain
\n\t
Lower overall cost to purchase and keep up
\n\t
A simpler lifestyle
\n\t
Fewer areas to stash future clutter!
\n
\n\n
If deciding to downsize, you can save time and money by decluttering first.
\n\n
The process of decluttering and downsizing is a reality faced by many empty nesters or folks in retirement, and it's not something that has to be faced alone.
\n\n
As previously mentioned, hiring a junk removal company is the easiest option to have your home cleared out quickly so that you don't have to lift a finger.
\n\n
Renting a dumpster is also an affordable option for those with the help, strength, and time to do it themselves.
\n\n
Hometown makes it easy to find locally-owned junk removal and dumpster rental companies that service your area.
\n\n
Request quotes from as many providers as you like, free of charge, to ensure you get the best price and customer service.
\n\n
\n
Find a junk removal or dumpster rental company near you
\n\n
\n
Continue reading:
\n\n
\n\t
Rent a Dumpster or Hire a Junk Removal Company?
\n\t
Renting a Dumpster for Home Cleanouts
\n\t
Why You Should Hire a Junk Removal Company to Handle an Estate Cleanout
\n
\n","teaser":"
Decluttering and downsizing your home offers many benefits. (You want buyers to be able to see them from the curb.)
\n\n
And while you're at it, update your exterior lighting fixtures for a bold, fresh look.
\n\n
Make sure your yard is immaculate.
\n\n
Mow the lawn, get rid of any weeds, prune shrubs and bushes, plant flowers, etc.
\n\n
Step 3: Spruce up the inside.
\n\n
Just like the exterior of your home, make all necessary interior repairs.
\n\n
Even if they seem like 'no-biggies' to you, a potential buyer may be adding them to their mental list of post-purchase expenses they'd need to address.
\n\n
We also recommend replacing old faucets, changing out those old cabinet handles, and making the little changes that add up to make big differences.
\n\n
Once all repairs are made, it's time to freshen up the place and give it a good cleaning.
\n\n
Find out more:
\n\n
\n\t
5 of the Most Profitable Home Remodel Projects
\n\t
8 Steps to Remodeling Your House on a Budget
\n\t
Hire the Right Remodeling Contractor and Know What to Expect
\n
\n\n
Step 4: Throw it all away.
\n\n
Okay, so maybe this won't always be the last step.
\n\n
But no matter what step it is, renting a dumpster is your secret weapon in helping get rid of all the clutter and junk your house has been holding—all in one fell swoop.
\n\n
If you're like most people, you probably have quite a bit of junk and various unused items lying around your house, from old letters and birthday cards to locks with lost combinations, and everything in between.
\n\n
The debris that's collected on your property over the winter, like broken patio chairs, empty paint cans, boxes of decade-old documents, the old air hockey table—all this stuff, and more, can go in a dumpster.
\n\n
The company can even place the dumpster where it's easiest for you to access—just be sure to ask!
\n\n
\n
We recommend contacting multiple providers for quotes on dumpsters rentals. A common route taken by expert organizers is the three-box method, which involves making three piles—keep, trash, and donate. Start your music, get in the groove, and begin weeding through your sea of stuff.
\n\n
Helpful Hint: Don’t spend too much time overthinking and deliberating whether or not you should or shouldn’t get rid of something. This particular job requires focus and a commitment to your initial gut feeling, so don’t second-guess yourself here.
\n
\n\n
Tip #4: Prepare yourself for one step at a time.
\n\n
The cardinal sin of doing a heavy duty decluttering and cleaning job is: Never bite off more than you can chew. If you get it in your head that you’re going to clean your entire house, inside and out, in a single day, then you’re going to wind up very frustrated and very discouraged. You didn’t end up with all that junk overnight, so it’s going to take more than that to get rid of it.
\n\n
Tip #5: When in doubt, purge.
\n\n
It happens all too often—you hold onto something, whether it be a blanket you had growing up or a clock that was once your grandmother’s because it has sentimental value. Never mind the fact that you haven’t used that blanket since exiting teen-dom, and your grandma’s clock hasn’t worked since you plucked it from the dust in her attic 10 years ago; you feel a strong emotional attachment to these things, and that’s normal.
\n\n
However, when these things start piling up and become more work (physically or emotionally) for you in your day-to-day life than anything else, it might be time to let them go.
\n\n
When going through your furniture, personal items, and other junk, keep these things in mind:
\n\n
\n\t
You are not your stuff. You are more than your possessions.
\n\t
Our memories are within us, not within our things.
\n\t
An item that is sentimental for you can be useful for someone else.
\n\t
Holding on to stuff imprisons us. Letting go is freeing.
\n
\n\n
\n
When it comes to your home, less is more. Remember this.
\n
\n\n
Clutter makes a space look smaller and can be a consistent drain on our energy, whether we sense it or not. Stick to your sorting system (like the three-box method mentioned earlier) and get rid of everything you don’t absolutely need…or really, really want.
\n\n
Ask yourself some of the following questions when waffling between whether or not you should or shouldn't get rid of something:
\n\n
\n\t
When was the last time I used this?
\n\t
If I do use it, how often, and why? What purpose does it serve?
\n\t
Do I own another item that can serve the same purpose as this one?
\n\t
Is this item something I can live without?
\n\t
Do I know someone else who would get more use out of this?
\n\t
Does this item match where I’m at in life now?
\n\t
Does this make my life easier? Does this make my life more difficult?
\n\t
Does this make me or my home look stunning?
\n
\n\n
If you find yourself thinking, 'I spent hard-earned money on this, I don't want to get rid of it,\" you're not alone. This is no time to call it quits from exhaustion! No doubt, your home has collected enough dust, dirt, and grime over the past year to give your muscles a serious workout, so get your tunes and cleaning supplies ready if you're up for it.
\n\n
If you're not, hire it out! It seems to creep up on you without warning, and before you know it your home looks more like a storage locker than a living space.
\n\n\n
Clutter is particularly sneaky around the holidays as Santa adds more “stuff” to your current clutter collection. The problem arises when you forget to get rid of old and unused stuff to make room for the new. So, let’s take a look at some simple ways to ensure your home stays clutter-free this holiday season.
\n\n
Tip #1: Don’t Create More Storage
\n\n
Storage sounds like a good thing. After all, it helps keep clutter organized and out of the way…right? The truth is that creating more storage areas in your home will only lead to storing more stuff, much of which you’ll never need or even use. This isn’t to say that storage is a bad thing in general, but the right balance is the key to avoid turning your home into a storage shed.
\n\n
Tip #2: Keep Clothing and Closets in Check
\n\n
You’ll probably be getting some new clothing this year, so create some space by getting rid of some of the stuff you never wear. Quit trying to cram every last inch of closet space with another outfit or pair of shoes.
\n\n
An effective way to really see which clothes are keepers and which are never worn is to turn all the hangers facing in one direction. Each time you wear a piece of clothing, wash it and put it back in your closet with the hanger facing the opposite direction.
\n\n
After a few months, take a look at your clothing hanging in your closet. Any hangers still facing the first direction are clothes you haven’t worn in the past few months. You’d probably be surprised at how much clothing you never wear.
\n\n
Tip #3: In-and-Out Rule
\n\n
This rule is simple: Anytime you bring in a new item, get rid of the old one. For example, if you get a new blender for Christmas, get rid of the old one instead of stuffing it in a box in the garage.
\n\n
Kid’s toys can really clutter-up a space during the holiday season. Kids can be very content with a small number of favorite toys instead of a room-full of them. Try to teach them that more isn’t always better.
\n\n
Tip #4: ‘Tis the Season for Giving
\n\n
…Continuing with Tips #2 and #3, there’s no better time than the holiday season to donate clothing, toys and household goods to a local charity.
\n\n
Donate to Goodwill, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots or other local charitable organization. Not only will you be de-cluttering your home, but you’ll also be helping out someone less fortunate – isn’t that what the holidays are all about?
\n\n
Tip #5: Decluttering is Stressful -- Don’t Get Overwhelmed
\n\n
That’s sometimes easier said than done! The holidays are no doubt a stressful time of year, but keep things in perspective. If the decluttering process becomes overwhelming and too time-consuming, take a step back and take a break from it.
\n\n
Create a plan of action by dividing the project into smaller, more manageable projects that you can fit into your busy schedule each day. Completing each “mini” project will still give you the satisfaction of completing a job.
\n\n
Also, know that you’re not alone. A 2008 study found that 66% of homeowners admitted at least one part of their home was filled with clutter. Of this group, 70% agreed that de-cluttering the mess would help them become more productive and save them about an hour a day in looking for things amongst the clutter.
\n\n
So, realize that you’re most likely in the majority when it comes to dealing with clutter in the home. Happy decluttering this holiday season!
\n\n
\n
Get started by researching and requesting free quotes for dumpster rental companies near you.
\n
\n","teaser":"
Christmas is the season of giving, but somehow you always end up with more than you started with. A 2012 survey of real estate professionals across the country showed that cleaning and decluttering is the most effective way to increase the value of a home.
\n\n\n
Decluttering Boosts Home Value by Thousands
\n\n
The same real estate survey lists cleaning and decluttering as the best low-cost home improvement for increasing the value of a home. It stated the cost of decluttering an average-sized home is $400, which includes junk removal, dumpster rental, and/or storage container rental. The homeowner knew the house was a disaster, but it would have taken weeks to clean up on her own. She enlisted the help of several family members and voila! The family members removed 45 bags of junk in a single weekend.
\n\n
The house received four competing offers just days after the cleanout and sold quickly.
\n\n
Moral of the Story
\n\n
This story shows just how effective decluttering becomes when working as a team. Even the most cluttered, dirty and dingy homes can be cleaned up in a weekend or less. An 80-year-old woman managed to do it.
\n\n
So, before putting your house up for sale, organize a “decluttering party” (call it what you want) and invite over 5-10 family members and friends to help with the cleanout. Clutter has its way of creeping back into the house after a successful spring cleaning, which has a lot to do with booking a busy summer filled with camping trips, family reunions and vacations. Here are some tips to make this weekend your 2012 summer cleanup.
\n\n\n
Take it One Room at a Time
\n\n
If your home took a beating this summer in terms of “clutter-gathering,” try to breakdown the cleanup into smaller chunks easier to manage. For example, focus on one room at a time rather than viewing the entire house cleanup as a whole.
\n\n
If it’s a single room that’s in need of some serious decluttering, break the room sections to make it a more manageable project.
\n\n
Organize the Garage
\n\n

\n\n
It’s a good time to start putting away all the “summer stuff” taking up space in the garage, such as summer kid’s toys.
\n\n
It’s a good time to start preparing for the colder weather in not-so-distant future – yes, for many of us that means the “white stuff” too. If you live in a colder climate, it’s not a bad idea to test out your winter equipment, such as the snow blower, to make sure it’s working properly. It’s much easier to fix a broken down snow blower when it’s still warm outside – waiting until the first snowfall and finding out it won’t start is definitely not a fun ordeal.
\n\n
Trash Removal
\n\n
If you know you’ll need a dumpster rental to aid in the decluttering process, call and rent it now! Waiting until the last minute is never a good idea when it comes to renting a dumpster, especially when you need it during a holiday weekend.
\n\n
Getting Rid of Stuff
\n\n
Drop off household goods and clothing to the nearest Goodwill or other charitable organization. September is also one of your last opportunities – at least in colder climates – to host a garage or yard sale.
\n\n
Tip: Hosting a garage or yard sale on a holiday weekend may not attract very much foot traffic due to the fact many people travel during the holidays (i.e., camping, visit family out of state, etc-). So, plan on hosting the sale the following weekend as well to increase exposure.
\n\n
Yard Maintenance
\n\n
Don’t forget about the lawn. of respiratory illnesses, including asthma.
\n\n
According to the Alliance for Healthy Homes, cluttered homes tend to contain higher levels of dust, which is a major cause of respiratory complications.
\n\n
Messy homes harbor dust mites more efficiently than clean homes, and excessive dust can trigger asthma attacks.
\n\n
Clutter makes it nearly impossible to thoroughly dust and clean your home, giving it a chance to pile up and trigger respiratory problems.
\n\n
The best way to avoid this issue If you're not sure, just call a hometown trash hauler and describe your project and debris. Most are very helpful. When it comes to dumpster sizes, you may be better off renting a dumpster that is a little too large rather than too small. If you rent a dumpster that is too small, it ends up costing you double to have the first dumpster picked up and a new one delivered.
\r\n\t
Call to learn more - Call one or more of the preferred dumpster rental services that serve your area. Ask about their pricing, standard rental period, weight included in the price, materials not allowed in the trash container, and other rental policies.
\r\n\t
Schedule delivery and arrange payment - Schedule a date for delivery of a temporary dumpster to your home, job site, or place of business. It's recommended that you have your dumpster delivered the day before you actually need it.
\r\n\t
Request pickup - When your finished loading the trash or debris into the roll off dumpster, call the company back and they will pick the dumpster up and haul it away to the landfill, transfer station, or recycling center.
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Dumpster rental costs
\r\n\r\n
The cost of renting a dumpster varies widely based on your location. The national average cost of renting a 10 yard dumpster is $300, while the national average cost of renting a 40 cubic yard container is nearly $500 for one-weekek rental. What you pay depends primarily on landfill fees in your area, the size of the container you need, and the dumpster company you select. To get the best price on a dumpster, get quotes from multiple rental companies.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Find a Dumpster Rental Company Near You
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Most companies quote one flat rate fee for delivery, pickup, and disposal (though some add delivery charges separately). The rental rate is usually for a standard period of time (for example... up to 7 days) and includes a certain amount of weight (for example... up to 3 tons). If you exceed this weight allowance, you will be subject to overage fees typically ranging from $50 to $100 per ton that you go over.
\r\n\r\n
When comparing dumpster rental prices between two companies:
\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
Compare apples to apples (or 20 yard dumpsters to other 20 yard dumpsters... dumpster size can have a big impact on price).
\r\n\t
Ask how much time is included in the price and what it will cost if you need the container for a longer period
\r\n\t
Ask how much weight is included in the price and how much 'per ton' it will cost if the dumpster is over weight.
\r\n\t
Ask if any additional fees that may be applied for any reason
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Extra charges may apply if you need the roll off dumpster for longer than a provider's standard rental period. This is typically a per day fee (ie $5 or $10 per day), but some dumpster services will negotiate with you up front if you need it for slightly longer than their standard period.
\r\n\r\n
Pay particular attention to the amount of weight included in your price if you are disposing of heavy construction debris like bricks, cement, roofing shingles, or demolition debris. If you're renting a trash dumpster for cleaning out your home of miscellaneous household debris, you will typically not have to worry about 'over weight' fees because the debris is lighter.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Click Here to Find Reputable Dumpster Rental Providers Near You
\r\n","teaser":"
Learn how to rent a dumpster and be free of your debris. options.
\r\n\r\n
Renting a Dumpster
\r\n\r\n
Dumpsters come in a wide range of sizes, from 3 cubic yard dumpster bags to full-size 40 cubic yard construction dumpsters.
\r\n\r\n
It’s an ideal solution for construction, demolition, house cleanouts, roofing, yard waste disposal, and recycling in bulk.
\r\n\r\n
Junk Removal
\r\n\r\n
This is a great option for disposal of e-waste, tough-to-dispose-of wastes, and bulk amounts of debris.
\r\n\r\n
It’s a convenient option—they handle all the removal and disposal for you.
\r\n\r\n
It can become costly for larger cleanups, so it’s something to consider when deciding between renting a dumpster and hiring a junk hauling service.
\r\n\r\n
Hauling Waste Yourself
\r\n\r\n
If you have a truck and/or trailer, hauling the debris yourself to a local landfill is always an option.
\r\n\r\n
The advantage of this method is the lower cost of disposal compared to renting a roll-off, although the tradeoff is less convenience and speed.
\r\n\r\n
The time it takes you to drive and drop off the debris at the nearest landfill can be substantial.
\r\n\r\n
Also, hazardous materials require a permit to haul, so do your due diligence as to the laws in your area regarding the types of waste you are allowed to haul and the types of debris accepted at local landfills (e.g., some accept only C&D debris and not household trash).
\r\n\r\n
Household hazardous waste (HHW) facilities safely process and recycle potentially toxic wastes, such as e-waste, household cleaners, paint, chemicals, medicines, and liquids.
\r\n\r\n
Some communities host HHW events on an annual or biannual basis.
\r\n\r\n
Find the nearest HHW drop off location online by visiting Earth911.com.
\r\n\r\n
And now, let’s discuss specific types of wastes and how to properly get rid of each type.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Types of Junk, Waste, and Debris
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Household Trash and General Waste
\r\n\r\n
Examples: household garbage, furniture, broken toys, packaging materials
\r\n\r\n
This category of waste includes anything you’d typically put in your waste bin.
\r\n\r\n
Generally, this category of waste is taken care of via your waste hauler’s curbside collection service.
\r\n\r\n
However, there are situations that require additional means, like hoarding situations, foreclosure cleanups, moving, and special events that generate a lot of trash.
\r\n\r\n
When you have more than your curbside roll cart can handle, a roll-off container works great for bulk amounts of household trash.
\r\n\r\n
Alternatively, hiring a junk removal company to pick up the trash for you is a convenient disposal method, too, and it may be a more cost-effective option for smaller jobs (less than a few cubic yards of waste).
\r\n\r\n
You could also haul these wastes to the landfill yourself if you live within close proximity of one.
\r\n\r\n
Disposal of appliances containing Freon, paints, liquids, lead-acid batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, and other household hazardous wastes (HHWs) require special handling.
\r\n\r\n
These wastes shouldn’t be mixed in with your household garbage.
\r\n\r\n
Contact your city’s solid waste department to find the nearest HHW facility, or visit the city’s website for more information.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Construction & Demolition (C&D) Debris
\r\n\r\n
Examples: lumber, drywall (sheetrock), wood flooring, carpeting, renovation debris, roofing debris
\r\n\r\n
Residential and commercial construction or demolition projects require the use of a dumpster, junk removal company, or driving the debris to the landfill yourself.
\r\n\r\n
Some U.S. cities require C&D debris to be dropped off at dedicated construction and demolition landfill facilities where it is separated and recycled.
\r\n\r\n
Concrete
\r\n\r\n
Like asphalt, this is a very heavy, dense debris that is best disposed of in a roll-off dumpster.
\r\n\r\n
Most dumpster rental companies require concrete to be separated from other wastes, and it must be loaded in a smaller container, such as a 10 yard bin, to ensure it does not become too heavy of a load for the roll-off truck to handle.
\r\n\r\n
Roofing Shingles
\r\n\r\n
This is a heavy debris that is generally loaded in its own dumpster and not in mixed loads.
\r\n\r\n
Shingles are recycled in most municipalities.
\r\n\r\n
Wood/Lumber
\r\n\r\n
Wood has a potential to be reused if salvaged properly.
\r\n\r\n
Reclaiming wood and selling or donating it is one way to cut down on disposal costs for a project.
\r\n\r\n
Carpeting
\r\n\r\n
A junk removal company offers the most convenient disposal solution in this case.
\r\n\r\n
Renting a dumpster or having your waste hauler pick it up are also valid options.
\r\n\r\n
Many waste haulers require the carpeting to be cut down to a specified length (e.g., 4 ft. lengths), so that may add to the inconvenience of going this route.
\r\n\r\n
Wood/Laminate Flooring
\r\n\r\n
This material is salvageable in many cases.
\r\n\r\n
This would, again, help cut down on disposal costs.
\r\n\r\n
If reclaiming the wood isn’t an option, other cost-effective solutions include renting a roll-off or hiring a junk removal company to pick it up.
\r\n\r\n
Siding
\r\n\r\n
Certain types of siding, such as cedar, are highly desirable, and people will often take it off your hands.
\r\n\r\n
This is great for cutting down on disposal costs.
\r\n\r\n
Simply posting a listing on Craigslist is an easy way to accomplish getting rid of cedar or wood siding.
\r\n\r\n
Vinyl siding is typically disposed of in a dumpster or picked up by a junk removal company.
\r\n\r\n
A dumpster is generally the more cost-effective option for a whole-house siding replacement project.
\r\n\r\n
Kitchen/Bathroom Renovation
\r\n\r\n
This includes cabinets, tubs, sinks, toilets, countertops, and floors.
\r\n\r\n
Much of this material can be reclaimed. Other materials can be disposed of in a roll-off container or via junk removal service.
\r\n\r\n
Most waste haulers do not accept renovation debris via curbside service.
\r\n\r\n
However, some will by appointment for an additional fee.
\r\n\r\n
Metals
\r\n\r\n
Bulk amounts of steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals should be recycled.
\r\n\r\n
Metal is a valuable commodity.
\r\n\r\n
You can eliminate disposal costs and make a few bucks by dropping off metal scraps at a local scrap yard.
\r\n\r\n
If you cannot DIY, some metal recyclers may be able to pick it up, or you can post an ad on Craigslist.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Yard Waste
\r\n\r\n
Examples: tree limbs, bush trimmings, grass clippings
\r\n\r\n
Being that it’s an organic waste, yard debris is best disposed by composting, but dumpsters and junk removal companies are good options, too.
\r\n\r\n
Dumpster companies and junk removal service providers will drop off the yard wastes at the proper facility.
\r\n\r\n
*Most waste haulers don’t allow yard debris mixed in with general waste.
\r\n\r\n
Heavy yard wastes, such as large logs, are best handled by professionals who have the right equipment to safely load and haul away such debris.
\r\n\r\n
Most junk removal companies have the right equipment to take on this type of project.
\r\n\r\n
Consider starting a compost pile if you have the room to do so.
\r\n\r\n
It’s the easiest and least expensive way to get rid of yard debris, plus it produces nutrient-rich compost ideal for farming, landscaping, and flower gardens.
\r\n\r\n
Be sure you know the laws regarding yard waste disposal in your area.
\r\n\r\n
Some cities have made yard debris composting mandatory.
\r\n\r\n
In this case, you’d need to have the debris dropped off at the proper composting facility.
\r\n\r\n
It may not be accepted at the municipal landfill, so be sure to do your due diligence.
\r\n\r\n
Search your city’s solid waste authority website or give them a call to learn more.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Appliances
\r\n\r\n
Examples: kitchen stove (range), microwave, washer, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator
\r\n\r\n
Hiring a junk removal company for removal of one or several appliances is a quick and cost-effective method of removal. Junk haulers charge a minimum fee of anywhere from $50 to $125, so expect to be charged at least that amount for the appliance removal.
\r\n\r\n
A dumpster works well for disposal of a whole home's worth of appliances, such as during a major renovation project or demolition.
\r\n\r\n
Choose a bigger dumpster than you think you need.
\r\n\r\n
Why? Most roll-off containers have rounded bottoms, while most appliances are bulky and square.
\r\n\r\n
So while you may have 10 cubic yards worth of appliances (think of 10 kitchen stoves, which approximately equals 10 cubic yards), the appliances will consume greater than 10 cubic yards worth of space inside a dumpster.
\r\n\r\n
In this example, a 20 yard bin may be the better choice.
\r\n\r\n
Save on disposal costs by donating working appliances to local charitable organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity.
\r\n\r\n
Some locations may even pick them up for free, so be sure to ask!
\r\n\r\n
Alternatively, you can sell appliances that are still in good shape via Craigslist, Facebook, or by other means.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Household Hazardous Wastes (HHWs)
\r\n\r\n
Examples: lead-acid batteries, fluorescent bulbs, household cleaners, motor oil, chemicals
\r\n\r\n
This class of wastes should never be mixed in with the general waste stream, so avoid putting household hazardous wastes in the waste bin, dumpsters, burning it, burying it, or using any other unsafe disposal method. Doing so can taint drinking water, harm local wildlife, produce unsafe crops at local farms, and pollute the air.
\r\n\r\n
Dispose of HHWs by dropping them off at a local HHW processing facility.
\r\n\r\n
Some communities also host annual or biannual HHW pickup events where you can drop off a wide range of hazardous wastes found in your home.
\r\n\r\n
Junk removal companies, and some dumpster rental providers, will accept HHWs if you discuss it beforehand.
\r\n\r\n
There may or may not be additional fees for handling/hauling of hazardous materials—it depends upon the company and local laws governing HHW handling.
\r\n\r\n
Find a household hazardous waste recycler near you.
\r\n\r\n
Here’s a quick breakdown of common types of HHWs:
\r\n\r\n
Batteries
\r\n\r\n
Common A, AA, AAA, D, and similar dry-cell batteries can be thrown away with your trash.
\r\n\r\n
However, car batteries and other larger batteries need to be properly recycled.
\r\n\r\n
Liquids
\r\n\r\n
This includes motor oil, antifreeze, household cleaners, fuel, and other toxic/flammable liquids.
\r\n\r\n
Motor oil can be safely dropped off for recycling at a local oil change facility or car dealership that provides service.
\r\n\r\n
Other liquids can usually be dropped off at an HHW facility or cleanup event.
\r\n\r\n
Light Bulbs
\r\n\r\n
Fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) shouldn’t be mixed in with household trash.
\r\n\r\n
They contain small amounts of mercury.
\r\n\r\n
Drop these off at the nearest recycling facility that accepts CFLs.
\r\n\r\n
Some retailers, such as Lowe's and IKEA, also accept CFLs for proper recycling.
\r\n\r\n
Learn more about CFL recycling.
\r\n\r\n
Medicines
\r\n\r\n
Dispose of medications at your local cleanup event or HHW processing facility.
\r\n\r\n
If you do not have access to this type of event or facility, you can dispose of medicines in the following manner:
\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
Mix medicines with dirt, kitty litter, or coffee grounds.
\r\n\t
Place in a plastic Ziploc bag and seal it.
\r\n\t
Throw the bag in your trash receptacle.
\r\n\t
Remove prescription labels and/or scratch out any personal information on the bottle to protect your privacy. Throw bottle(s) away.
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
Explosives
\r\n\r\n
Highly-flammable, combustible, and explosive wastes can be dangerous when mixed in with the general waste stream.
\r\n\r\n
Local laws dictate the proper way to dispose of wastes, like fuel, oil, fireworks, lighter fluid, matches, and others.
\r\n\r\n
Paint
\r\n\r\n
Wet paint must be dried before throwing it away.
\r\n\r\n
You can mix bulk amounts of paint with sand or similar material to dry it quickly.
\r\n\r\n
You can safely throw empty, dry paint cans into the trash or a rented dumpster.
\r\n\r\n
The one exception is if the paint is very old and may contain lead.
\r\n\r\n
It is unlikely this will be an issue considering lead paint was banned in 1978 (although lead-based paint was still sold for several years after that).
\r\n\r\n
If it’s a very old can of paint you need to dispose of, play it safe and bring it to a local recycling facility for proper disposal.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Recyclables
\r\n\r\n
Examples: paper, cardboard, plastics, metal
\r\n\r\n
Despite the slight downturn in recycling noted in recent years, access to recycling services is pretty extensive these days. For bulk amounts of recyclables, you have several options:
\r\n\r\n
Renting a dumpster is a quick and easy option for DIYers.
\r\n\r\n
Clean load it with recyclable materials only and the rental company may offer a discount.
\r\n\r\n
Junk removal is usually more expensive than renting a dumpster but much more convenient.
\r\n\r\n
Dropping recyclables off at a recycling center is the most cost-effective method for handling a low volume of recyclables.
\r\n\r\n
Posting an ad on Craigslist or Freecycle is another cheap and convenient way to get rid of recyclables.
\r\n\r\n
The potential downsides include having to wait potentially days or weeks (if ever) before finding someone to pick it up, and this method is generally limited to working well for valuable recyclables, such as metals.
\r\n\r\n
Bring scrap metals, like copper pipes, steel, brass fittings, iron, junk cars, etc., to a local metal scrap yard to get paid for your scraps.
\r\n\r\n
Some recycling facilities will even purchase bulk amounts of paper, cardboard, and plastics.
\r\n\r\n
For example, Padnos is a full-service recycler serving most of the State of Michigan and will purchase most types of recyclables (in bulk amounts).
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Food Scraps and Organic Waste
\r\n\r\n
Food and organic scraps can be composted.
\r\n\r\n
Not all food scraps are ideal for composting, however.
\r\n\r\n
Wastes that are excellent compost materials include:
\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
Egg shells
\r\n\t
Fruit and vegetable scraps
\r\n\t
Coffee grounds and filters
\r\n\t
Clean paper and newspaper
\r\n\t
Vacuum residuals
\r\n\t
Hair and nail clippings
\r\n\t
Dirt, soil, grass clippings, dead leaves, and small tree limbs
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
<a started.
\r\n\r\n
Do not compost meats, cheeses/dairy, plastics, fats, dirty paper/paper towels, breads, dog/cat wastes (grass-eating animal wastes are ok), or processed foods.
\r\n\r\n
If you have a bulk amount of food or organic waste to dispose of, discuss solutions with your waste hauler or a dumpster rental provider near you.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Tires
\r\n\r\n
Tires are banned for disposal in landfills in the majority of states within the United States.
\r\n\r\n
Instead, they can be recycled or reused.
\r\n\r\n
Bring old automobile tires to a tire retailer for recycling.
\r\n\r\n
There may be a small fee involved in some cases.
\r\n\r\n
Alternatively, you can sell or give away tires that still have some tread left.
\r\n\r\n
Recyclers, artists, and companies that work with rubber may also take them off your hands for free.
\r\n\r\n
Post an ad on Craigslist, Facebook, or Freecycle.org to get started.
\r\n\r\n
Junk removal companies also haul away tires, and this is a cost-effective and convenient option if you have a large number of tires to offload.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n
Asbestos, Mold, and Lead Paint
\r\n\r\n
Found on drywall, paint, roofing materials, and other building materials.
\r\n\r\n
These toxic substances are more prevalent in older homes or commercial buildings.
\r\n\r\n
Before starting a renovation, demolition, or construction project in an older home, be sure to have it tested for asbestos, mold, and lead paint.
\r\n\r\n
Asbestos
\r\n\r\n
Asbestos fibers are released into the air when affected material, such as drywall, is disturbed.
\r\n\r\n
Left alone, asbestos isn’t harmful.
\r\n\r\n
It’s during renovation or demolition that the asbestos is released into the air.
\r\n\r\n
Exposure can lead to lung cancer, mesothelioma, and lung problems.
\r\n\r\n
Mold
\r\n\r\n
Avoid dangerous mold by controlling moisture inside your home, repairing leaks, and cleaning up after natural disasters.
\r\n\r\n
Mold can often hide behind walls.
\r\n\r\n
If you spot a large area of it, it’s best to leave the removal to the professionals.
\r\n\r\n
In terms of disposal, a mold removal specialist will properly discard of the materials for you.
\r\n\r\n
Otherwise, you can dispose of small quantities of moldy materials in a dumpster if the debris is bagged or wrapped in plastic.
\r\n\r\n
Lead Paint
\r\n\r\n
How you dispose of lead paint debris depends upon how much of it is present and what your state’s laws are regarding disposal.
\r\n\r\n
If a sample of the debris contains less than 100 milligrams of lead per kilogram, you can typically dispose of it like regular municipal waste.
\r\n\r\n
If concentrations of lead are greater than that benchmark, special disposal procedures must be followed.
\r\n\r\n
It’s best to hire a lead paint abatement specialist to test for lead paint and to dispose of it if necessary.
\r\n\r\n
To summarize, asbestos materials always require special disposal procedures, while mold and lead paint tainted debris can be disposed of the same way you would any other C&D debris as long as the levels are low.
\r\n\r\n
Rent a dumpster for larger cleanups, or hire a junk hauler to come pick up smaller amounts of debris.
\r\n\r\n
Always inform the rental company or junk removal provider that the debris is tainted.
\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n<p typically hold HHW collection events once or twice per year where you can drop off chemicals and other hazardous wastes.
\r\n\r\n
Used motor oil can be brought to an oil change facility or auto parts store for proper recycling.
\r\n\r\n
Call ahead just to be sure.
\r\n\r\n
Never dispose of auto fluids or chemicals in the trashcan or a dumpster.
\r\n\r\n
Refer to <a phones, other electronic devices
\r\n\r\n
Electronic waste, or e-waste, is growing in the U.S., and proper disposal of this debris is often misunderstood.
\r\n\r\n
Most e-waste is not allowed in the general waste stream; it should be properly recycled to avoid heavy metal contamination and other potential hazards.
\r\n\r\n
Some states, including California and New York, have banned disposal of e-waste in landfills or waste-to-energy (WTE) facilities.
\r\n\r\n
Instead of throwing e-waste in the trash, it should go to the proper recycling facility.
\r\n\r\n
What to Do with Cost of Dumpster Rental and Junk Removal Services
\r\n\r\n
Dumpster rental and junk removal costs vary based on a number of factors, including the type and amount of debris, where you're located, the accessibility of your property, and who you hire.
\r\n\r\n
Your exact project cost will depend on these factors, and the best way to get an accurate estimate for your rental or project is to reach out to multiple service providers in your area for a quote.
\r\n\r\n
This not only ensures you get the best price but also allows you to choose the best company for the job, not just the cheapest.
\r\n\r\n
Location
\r\n\r\n
Do you live out in the country or far off the beaten path?
\r\n\r\n
If so, you can expect your dumpster rental or junk removal service to cost more due to the cost of travel incurred by the company.
\r\n\r\n
Cost of living and local disposal fees also play a large role in cost.
\r\n\r\n
For example, you’ll pay significantly more in New York City to rent a dumpster than you would in Memphis, TN based on the difference in cost of living.
\r\n\r\n
You'll also likely pay more for an apartment cleanout that requires hauling items up and down flights of stairs compared to the same size cleanout in the same zip code that is conveniently located on the first floor.
\r\n\r\n
Type of Debris
\r\n\r\n
Some service providers—dumpster and junk removal—charge differently for household wastes vs. construction and demolition (C&D) debris.
\r\n\r\n
C&D debris is often heavier, so it may end up costing more to haul away than general household trash.
\r\n\r\n
Amount of Debris
\r\n\r\n
The heavier the load, the more you’ll pay.
\r\n\r\n
For junk removal, costs rise as the volume of junk increases.
\r\n\r\n
A full truckload of junk, for example, costs more than a load taking up just half of the truck’s total capacity.
\r\n\r\n
Likewise, if you exceed the weight limit of your dumpster rental you'll likely be hit with overage fees.
\r\n\r\n
\r\n
\r\n\r\n
\r\n<h2 Phase 1 of Masdar City’s waste management plan will divert 50 percent of all waste away from landfills, or the equivalent of about 11,000 metric tons. The plan is to sort waste into three main streams: dry recyclables (i.e., cans and cardboard), wet recyclables (i.e., food scraps) and residuals (i.e., empty food containers). Dry recyclables will be shipped to the recycling center while wet recyclables will be composted and used for landscaping purposes. Other residual waste, including toxic waste, will be handled outside the city.
\r\n\r\n
The City of the Future?
\r\n\r\n
Is Masdar City the city of the future? It very well could be. However, it’s tough to say for sure until the city is fully developed and operational. This won’t happen until 2025 assuming everything stays on schedule. On paper, the city looks incredible and is amazingly eco-friendly. That said, there’s no way of knowing how accurate this will translate in real life. My best guess is that Masdar City succeeds in developing the most sustainable city in the world. However, it comes with a steep price – estimates put the price tag at around $18 to $19 billion.
\r\n\r\n
More Photos of Masdar City:
\r\n\r\n

\r\nImages via: Masdar City Official Website
\r\n","teaser":"
Smack dab in the middle of the desert is the location of one of the world’s greenest cities.
